EPS is a building system based on a group of Structural Panels of undulated foam Polystyrene with a base reinforcement placed against the sides with high resistance steel mesh and each side joined to one another by means of electro welded steel connectors.
The Polystyrene foam is a thermoplastic material obtained by polymerisation of styrene. As a material, EPS is formed by union of so many beads of polystyrene produced during a modelling process with supply of heat as water steam until the following characteristics are obtained;
The thickness of foamed polystyrene may vary from 4cm to 25cm according to the requirements of the architectural design. The steel meshes projection of 50mm on the opposite sides joins the two panels which interlocks one another guaranteeing continuity by super imposition with no need of placing additional joining elements like columns, lintel and beams.
